VetSuccess On CampusThe Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is developing innovative ways to help Veterans make the transition to college life. The VetSuccess on Campus (VSOC) program aims to help Veterans, Service Members, and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling, leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers. The VetSuccess on Campus checklist is the primary source for step-by-step instructions on applying and receiving your VA Education Benefits. 

VetSuccess on Campus Checklist

Micalea Black is CCRI's VetSuccess counselor. The Veteran Services Office works hand-in-hand with Ms. Black in many dealings with the VA. She will be available to help student veterans from all CCRI locations. She can assist all student veterans, active duty and dependents attending CCRI with the following:

  • Guidance and support with education benefits
  • Finding employment opportunities
  • Electing your healthcare benefits with Veterans Healthcare Administration
  • Submitting a claim for disability compensation
  • Vocational exploration, advising, and selecting a suitable career
  • Information on VA benefits such as life insurance, home loan guarantee, vocational rehabilitation and employment, the GI Bill® ( GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government Web site at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill. ) benefits and other education benefits
  • Access to VA Medical Center and services available at veteran centers
  • Locating community and other resources
