AI and Career Development
AI is a powerful tool that can be used in your career development, including to help learn about careers, edit your resume, and practice interviews. You may use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) to help develop ideas and brainstorm.
Please note some important considerations when using AI:
- AI can make mistakes, so remember to check for accuracy
- Never include personal information such as your name, physical and email address, phone numbers or identifying information such as a Social Security number, driver's license, etc.
- Use AI to enhance or refine your original content, do not substitute AI for your own unique and creative voice
- Remember that AI can produce biased content, so evaluate the content it provides
- Be aware AI is an emerging technology so stay informed of updates
- This information pertains only to Career Services-related searches. Please check with your professor and/or syllabus about ethically using AI in an academic course.
Please be aware that materials generated by these programs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, or otherwise problematic. Employers, faculty, and staff can often tell if material was created with AI through detection software, mistakes, inconsistent information, or receiving identical documents from multiple people. You can use AI to brainstorm or get suggestions, but any material submitted must always be your own.
