Library Technology
All campus libraries have laptops and mobile hotspots that CCRI students can borrow for academic or personal use. All campuses except the Newport campus have iPads available for checkout as well. CCRI students that are in good standing can borrow devices for 4 weeks. These devices are first-come, first-served; reserve a device using the catalog link at the top of the page.
The computers are equipped with the full Microsoft Office suite. Students should use a USB flash drive if they want to save their work. iPads are preloaded with useful applications and can access the wireless Internet.
Mobile WiFi Hotspots are available for check out. WiFi hotspots are internet access points that allow you to connect to a WiFi network using your computer, smartphone or another device while away from your home or office network. Similar to how you connect to the college WiFi on campus, you will be able to take a hotspot with you and connect the internet by signing onto the hotspot's WiFi. For more information about mobile hotspots please refer to our Hotspot FAQ page
Library technology can be reserved and picked up in-person or by using CCRI Library's curbside service. An active CCRI library card is required. To activate your card, please complete the library card application.
Patrons who check out a device to be taken out of the library, need to return the device to the same campus during the library's normal hours or by setting up an appointment during technology drop off hours. Please see the agreement form for all stipulations. Faculty and staff should consult with the IT department for devices.
Please abide by the college's Responsible Use of Information Technology policy.
