ENGL 1010: Composition I with a grade of "C" or better. This course is limited to two attempts. All attempts prior to January 1, 2015, including transfers, are considered ONE ATTEMPT regardless of the number of times the class was taken. If a student fails to meet the satisfactory grade requirements within the two attempts, the student must wait five (5) years from the last attempt to retake the course.
BIOL 2201 (Anatomy & Physiology I) OR BIOL 1010: Human Anatomy and BIOL 1020: Human Physiology, both with a grade of "C" or better. This course is limited to two attempts. All attempts prior to January 1, 2015, including transfers, are considered ONE ATTEMPT regardless of the number of times the class was taken. If a student fails to meet the satisfactory grade requirements within the two attempts, the student must wait five (5) years from the last attempt to retake the course.
BIOL 1010 is a companion course of BIOL 1020. Another college-level 4-credit, human
physiology course (with lab) may be substituted for BIOL 1020. BIOL 1020, or a substitution,
cannot be more than six (6) years old at the time of application.
If you have taken BIOL 1010 or another course in Human Anatomy, you will have to take
a stand-alone Human Physiology course at another institution before you apply into
the LPN-to-RN Option. CCRI does not offer a stand-alone Human Physiology course.
BIOL 2201 is a companion course of BIOL 2202. Neither of these can be more than six (6) years old at the time of application.
BIOL 2202 (A&P2) is required to be taken before or during Semester 1 of the LPN-to-RN
Option.
The transfer of Anatomy and Physiology courses is subject to approval by the CCRI
Biology Department Chairperson.

Practical Nursing License: Please email a copy of your active license in practical nursing to ([email protected]).
"LPN Employment Verification Form" Please have your supervisor email the LPN Employment Verification form to the Level I Chair Patty Kelling ([email protected]) indicating successful and recent (within the past five years) completion of 1,000 hours as an LPN in a clinical practice environment.
LPN-to-RN Admission Exam: Score of 850 or better. If the student does not achieve
850 on his or her first attempt, the student may retake the exam. A minimum of two
weeks between exams is required. Students who do not meet the benchmark in two attempts
can retest after three (3) months from the second attempt. Please note: HESI test
scores do not expire. There is no designated study guide for this exam. Any NCLEX-PN
study guide is appropriate. Students are encouraged to review previous nursing coursework
material. The HESI LPN-to-RN Admission Exam measures competency across PN/VN content
areas, including:
- Fundamentals
- Pediatric Nursing
- Maternity
- Professional Issues
- Medical-Surgical
- Psychiatric/Mental Illness
Students should complete the pre-requisite courses prior to taking the pre-admission

April NURS 1061 Challenge Exam Dates
- Thursday April 3rd 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
- All challenge exams will be on the Knight/Warwick campus in room 2268.
NURS 1061: Pharmacology I (L2R)* can be challenged after the LPN Employment Verification Form has been received and approved by the Level I Chair, and a score of 850 or better has been achieved on the HESI LPN-to-RN admission exam. Students may challenge the course on one of the challenge exam dates listed below. Successful course challenge includes:
- Score of 90 or better on a 20 question math competency test.
- Grade of a "C+" (77) or better on a 56 item exam
- To prepare for the challenge, review the Math Review Worksheet, NURS 1061 Syllabus A , and Syllabus C.
- To be added to the schedule for this exam please email Jeff Fontaine ([email protected]) with one of the dates and times listed below. Once you are added there will be a fee placed on your account for the exam which is the equivelant of a one credit course that will need to be paid before taking the exam.
- Note: This course is limited to three (3) attempts for the math competency test and two (2) attempts for the 56 item exam. An unsuccessful challenge is considered one attempt.
- Credits granted through AP, CLEP, challenge exams or assessment of prior learning will be recognized as satisfying course requirements and will be assigned points equivalent to a grade of "B."

In the event of a tie, the students' NURS 1061 final grade will be used as the tie-breaker.

Biology Requirements - Changes to Anatomy and Physiology Courses
Before submitting your application, you will need to have completed either of the two options below:
- BIOL 1010 and BIOL 1020 at CCRI or equivalent courses at another college or university*. Remember that BIOL 1010 is last offered in Summer 2019 and BIOL 1020 is last offered in Fall 2019.
OR
- A&P 1, first be offered in Fall 2019. Note: A&P2 is not a pre-requisite course, but is a program requirement. You may choose
to complete A&P2 prior to entrance into the Nursing Program, if desired. Remember,
though, that A&P2, like A&P1, is limited to two attempts.
*The Biology Department at CCRI will determine which college/university courses are equivalent.

- The ADN and PN programs have competitive admissions. The ADN program and LPN-to-RN Option admit students twice per year, while the PN program admits students only once per year. Each application period, qualified students are denied admission due to limited space. Registered Nursing and Practical Nursing are different professions; therefore, students who have accepted a seat in the ADN program, LPN-to-RN Option, or PN program are not eligible to apply to other nursing programs or options. Students must, in advance of the application process, determine which career path they would like to pursue. Effective September 5, 2018, if a student does apply to both programs, the first program to which the student is accepted invalidates the application to the second program. Students who are not accepted into the program of their choice may reapply to that program, or apply to a different program, during the next application period.
